My family and I recently went to see Casting Crowns in concert. I can’t say enough about how they blessed me with their praise, and their prayer. The Lord shines through lead singer Mark Hall, as he ministers to so many people up on that stage.

Those guys are so humble. Each member of Casting Crowns is involved in their own church. After a week of concerts, they each fly to their own homes and teach and preach at church. Mark Hall and his wife were headed out to their car to leave after that concert and they took the time to talk to our youth pastor, who was parked in our church van close by. The kids got a real kick out of it.

Anyway, the reason I bring up Casting Crowns, is because they support Worldvision. If you don’t know about Worldvision, please at least take time to go see what it is about: http://www.worldvision.org/

World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice.

Sponsoring a child through Worldvision is not about just sending money to somebody you don’t know. The money goes directly to the one sponsored child and their family. You can send them a birthday present and stay in touch with this one child. We have it so good. Even in a time when our economy has taken a hit, we only know poverty by what we’ve seen on TV or the internet.

These kids have nothing, but they deserve everything. What better way for us to show our own kids how blessed they are. At that concert, we sponsored a little girl from Chile. There are kids from all over the world who need your help.

As Christians, it is great to be able to give to a Christian organization that demonstrates God’s unconditional love for all people.

I was outside weeding the flowerbed, when I really started thinking about something. Each weed I pulled out was deeply rooted. As I continued, it seemed like these weeds would never end. In fact, no matter how nice I cleaned that landscaping up today, those weeds will eventually come back.

And when they do, it is inevitable. Someone is going to have to pull the weeds again. It is a never ending task.

It reminded me of those who live their life based on works. In other words, there are many people who do good things, even great things for others. They are always trying to do good works. Some even believe these good works will get them into Heaven. There are some religions that are ‘works-based’ religions. There are organizations that do good things because that is their creed.

But works are like weeds. They are both of this earth. Works are a deadend road for that person who is not saved. No matter how many works a person does, they will not get into Heaven on works alone.

When we are saved, we don’t have to go out and worry about how many works we need to do every week. Because when we are saved, those works will come. As Spirit-filled Christians, we don’t have to worry about doing works to get into Heaven. We have been Saved by the blood of Jesus Christ. We don’t owe anything for Salvation. Jesus has paid the price for everyone’s sins on that Old rugged Cross.

So as Christians, instead of worrying about doing great things, we should strive to conform to the image of Christ. We should be moving forward to be disciples on this earth each and every day. We should be spreading his word through our actions and our words.

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV)

There was recently a billboard erected that reads, “One Nation Indivisible,” which is the phrase preceding the 1954 insertion of the words “under God” to the Pledge of Allegiance, reports the Charlotte Observer’s Tim Funk. The billboard was erected on Billy Graham Parkway last week. (Graham is, of course, the state’s famous evangelical preacher.)

Similar North Carolina ads have gone up in Asheville, Greensboro, Wilmington, Raleigh, and Winston-Salem as a Fourth of July project by the area’s atheist association. The group has filed a police report and will replace the billboard.

Here is the problem that I have with this whole deal. I don’t agree with atheist views, nor do I like what the billboard says (or rather doesn’t say).

But defacing these billboards is just plain wrong. Vandalism is the wrong way to argue a point. In fact, I see Christian billboards quite often, and I would be extremely upset if someone vandalized one of those signs.

I am just as offended when I see adult billboards when driving down the highway. Or for that matter, when I see a political billboard that goes against my views, I don’t really like those either. But here’s the deal, it’s not right to take those things personal and try to lash out at another group.

Over 2000 years ago, there were also countless many different kinds of people on this earth. Christ saw many of the same types of things that you or I see, on a daily basis. But it did not phase him. Jesus Christ continued to touch the hearts and lives of everyone he ever met. Jesus would never lash out and attack another group of people that were different than him. He would not talk negatively about or to anyone on this earth.

Though we will never be perfect like Christ was, we can always strive to do so. We were all created in God’s image.

Romans 10:12 says “For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.”

Many people in many cultures believe this. But it is this very next verse that some do not believe:

Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

We, as Christians should not rebuke those who do not believe in the Gift of Salvation. As Christians, we should pray for all those in this world who have not accepted the Gift.

First off, let me say that there are not many really good Christian concerts that come to Southeast Texas. But I am excited about this one. Soon after tickets went on sale to the Make A Difference Tour, I bought two for me and my wife. We will be seated in Pit Row at Ford Park in Beaumont on October 8th for this great event!

What is the Make a Difference Tour, you ask? It is a concert event featuring Grammy award winning artists Third Day, Toby Mac, Michael W. Smith and best-selling author Max Lucado.

The Make a Difference Tour 2010 is inspired by the themes of Lucado’s forthcoming book, Outlive Your Life: You Were Made to Make a Difference, and will travel to 20 cities during the month of October. This event will make a difference for children by helping to raise sponsors for 25,000 children through World Vision. Lucado set the goal last year in honor of his 25th year of publishing in 2010; he is donating 100% of author royalties from all Outlive Your Life products to benefit children and families through World Vision and other ministries of faith-based compassion.

For tour dates and tickets for this event near you, go to the official Make A Difference Tour website.

Or check out our widget for tour dates:

I’ll get some great pictures from Pit row and post them here on the site after the concert. I can’t wait for this Spirit-filled, star-studded concert.

For those who haven’t read any of Max Lucado’s books, he is pretty awesome. Max is minister of preaching at Oak Hills Church in San Antonio. His books have been on countless national bestseller lists. His book Fearless even touched so many people that Kerusso apparel manufactured a Fearless T-shirt which uses the art from the book cover.

My verse of the day is a great challenge from Phillipians 1:27 (KJV):

“27Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;”

What is Habitat for Humanity?
Habitat for Humanity International is nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry that seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat invites people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in need. Founded in 1976, Habitat has built more than 250,000 houses around the world, providing shelter for more than a million people.

How does it work?
Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses that are sold to partner families at no profit and financed with affordable loans. Homeowners make monthly mortgage payments that are deposited in a locally-administered Fund for Humanity with proceeds going toward the construction of future Habitat houses.

Habitat is not a giveaway program. In addition to a down payment and the monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor — “sweat equity” — into building their Habitat house and the houses of others.

Families in need of decent shelter apply to local Habitat groups. The family selection committee of each local organization chooses homeowners based on their level of need, their willingness to become partners in the program and their ability to repay the no-profit loan. Every Habitat group follows a nondiscriminatory policy of family selection. Neither race nor religion is a factor in choosing the families who receive Habitat houses.

How is the work of Habitat for Humanity a reflection of the Christian faith?
Habitat’s ministry is based on the conviction that to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ we must reflect Christ’s love in our own lives by loving and caring for one another. Habitat provides an opportunity for people to put their faith and love into action, bringing diverse groups of people together to make affordable housing and better communities a reality for everyone.

All Habitat groups are asked to “tithe” — to give 10 percent of their contributions to fund house-building work in other locations around the world. Tithing provides funds for international building, and it also affords Habitat groups the chance to demonstrate the spirit of Christian partnership.

Each year on the third Sunday in September, Habitat for Humanity observes the International Day of Prayer and Action for Human Habitat. Supporters around the world are asked to pray for those in need of shelter and to pray that God will touch the hearts of individuals to take up the cause of affordable housing.

During the week before the Day of Prayer each year, Habitat for Humanity celebrates Building on Faith week to highlight its partnerships with churches and other faith groups around the world. During this week, Habitat for Humanity invites faith partners to pray for those in need of housing, to be advocates for affordable housing and to make a commitment to dedicate resources and volunteers to provide housing solutions as a sermon of God’s love.

It is so refreshing to see there are great Christian websites out there that are actually owned by Christians, and not just non-Christians trying to make a buck.

That’s basically why I started this website. I have experience in eCommerce, online marketing, search engine optimization and much more. But my other websites do not allow me to fully do the Lord’s work.

I want to be able to channel my online talents into something that pleases the Lord. I want to meet other Christians online worldwide. I want to serve the Lord in everything that I do. None of the things that I have are mine. They are all God’s. I am simply a steward of his things. As Christians, we must be good stewards over all that we have been blessed with. And we must use our God-given gifts so that it is pleasing to him.

I was saved when I was a young man. My father was a music minister in a Southern Baptist church in Texas. But when I joined the U.S. Army, after graduating high school, I started doing things that did not glorify God. Although I was convicted about each and every decision I made, I still continued to sin.

A few years ago my family found a great Church family, and I re-dedicated myself to the Lord. This church family was instrumental in helping me to renew my walk with Christ. It is true that you don’t have to go to church to be saved and get into heaven. But I know that being a part of a strong church family helped me to get on the right path of God’s will.

In these last few years, Christian music has also been an unbelievable inspiration to me. While I am driving down the road, I tune in to Air1 www.air1.com or KLove www.klove.com and God always speaks to me through the DJ’s or through the music of Chris Tomlin, Toby Mac, Jeremy Camp, Brandon Heath, Third Day and more! The first time I shed a tear listening to the radio was when I heard Chris Tomlin’s ‘Amazing Grace - My Chains Are Gone’ on Klove. It is amazing how much that spiritual music can move you. When you are not listening to a great sermon, or reading the Bible, great Christian music can really keep you going.

Each and every day, I strive to be more like our Lord. We are all human and live in fleshly bodies. But as Christians, we can do anything.

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Phillipians 4:13

We can’t just sit on the sideline and be fans of Christianity. As Christians, we must be like Christ. We must minister to others and use our spiritual gifts to reach out to the lost.

I look forward to meeting other people through ChristianHangout.net. Whether you are a Christian or not, you are welcome here.

Thank you for stopping by and God Bless you!

Bryan Robinson
